A town’s wall is stone with a walk and battlements on top, or a palisade of stakes 4 m high. A castle’s curtain is higher and thicker, built in sections about 4 m long and a storey high, with solid corners where two curtains meet. Manors have a palisade or a stone wall. Stairs climb to the walks. See Sieges.
