Gorse and broom

Gorse golden on the heath in spring.

Spiny gorse bushes on the heath. One bush in three is broom instead.

On the heath, which lies in patches over the shrubland and over the poor uplands: hills, and woods high up on granite or sandstone.

Gorse is bright yellow through spring (days 1 to 14) and keeps a little yellow all year. Broom is yellow only in late spring (days 9 to 20).
