A great henge, the Temple’s grandest: a ditch and bank, an avenue in, an outer ring of lintelled stones, an inner ring, a horseshoe of trilithons and a great altar stone, its way in facing the midsummer sunrise. The richest tenth of towns raise one in place of their first temple.
